She’s the cutest boat on the Bay. The “Vicar of Bray” is a 20.5’, Alan Buchanan designed, full keel coastal cruising sailboat. Strip-planked and fiberglassed hull with teak decks and cockpit.
Rig - Her mast was entirely professionally rebuilt a year and a half ago with new electrical wires run inside and new masthead and spreader lights. New breaker panel. New windex indicator at mast top. New mast boot. Leather boots at spreader ends. All standing rigging just 1.5 years old. All new running rigging 1.5 years ago. New (ish) Harken roller furling on jib. A beautiful wooden whisker pole is stored down below.
Down below - sitting headroom, roomy single bunk, large counter with sink and flip up dining table. There’s a hanging locker just inside the companionway and a few drawers. A LOT of storage space for such a compact little yacht. There’s also a compartment for a small portable toilet under a hinged lid. The floorboards are teak.
Engine - was originally a 7hp Farymann diesel. That’s not operational (though a mechanically minded person could get her going again). There’s a solid outboard mount on the transom with an old outboard. That’s what we use, but the outboard has been acting up a bit.
Sails - older main is serviceable, two jibs are in good shape.
Bottom Line - she’s a wonderful boat and she needs a few projects. Varnish and paint are the most urgent projects, then, maybe, a new outboard.
